VMC 82 A

A mild cooling color correction filter. It's a pale blue filter that corrects 3000K light to 3200K. The filter works by adding blue to the overall exposure, which cools the ambient light entering the lens by 200° kelvin. This helps to fine-tune the color or look of a scene to match its film's white balance. The 82A filter can be useful when only a small tweak is needed to the color temperature, such as when correcting light that is too warm or amber for a situation. It can also be useful for bright galaxies, especially face-on spirals like the M51. The filter can make the galactic structure more pronounced, including detail in the spiral arms. It can also be used to split binaries and view cometary gas tails.
