Threads of a Shattered Star

Threads of a Shattered Star
The Eastern Veil Nebula glows like a fiery ribbon against the star-filled darkness of Cygnus. This intricate cloud of energized gas is part of the Veil Nebula, the expanding remnant of a massive star that exploded thousands of years ago. Captured through a duo-band filter, the image combines 754 ten-second exposures for a total light-gathering time of 2 hours, 5 minutes, and 40 seconds.
