The Ring of Fire
The Moon passes almost perfectly across the Sun during the October 14, 2023 annular solar eclipse, leaving only a brilliant ring of sunlight visible around its dark silhouette. Photographed from San Antonio, Texas through a Meade Schmidt-Cassegrain telescope at 1700mm with a solar filter, the image captures the dramatic “Ring of Fire” near the height of annularity. Slight variations along the narrow solar ring hint at the rugged lunar edge, making this fleeting alignment of the Sun, Moon, and Earth especially striking. #EngelPhotography #RingOfFire #AnnularEclipse #SolarEclipse #Eclipse2023 #Astrophotography #SolarPhotography #SolarFilter #Sun #Moon #Astronomy #SanAntonio #Texas
